We have the Independent Living, Skilled Nursing & Rehab, and Assisted Living Memory Care areas open right now.
The Skilled Nursing Memory Care and Elevated Skilled Nursing for Long-Term Residents are both still under construction. We are also building a 60-bed Regular Assisted Living. Hi Chris .. they have Activity Consultants that will come in and get your paperwork back on track, you should visit NCCAP.org and look in the section about the MEPAP instructors, they are sorted by state and you may be able to hire them to help your facility if you can find someone local.
I was a AD Troubleshooter in my career and I would enter a property, Sit down with several charts at a time and go thru the process of resetting everthing to present. Gather the Careplan team forms if it exists, Doctors Diagnosis, Progress Notes/Assessments, MDS forms. and start a re-evaluation. Start with the assessment and the progress notes and update what exists to bring them current. If you update a existing Progess Note, then put current date and "UPDATE" start your new plan of action from this point on. IF your assesment doenst exist then see the DON for how to proceed, but they better be there.. Once you get the progress notes updated , write a CarePlan and make the careplan team aware that the resident needs to be included. If you get a list of all the Careplan Residents for the next meeting than make sure you do those residents first.. each place has its own system but you get the idea.. Get the paperwork caught up as soon as possible,

We currently have a full time Therapeutic Activities/Program Director position available at Hearthstone’s Assisted Living Residence located in Marlborough, MA. Program Directors at Hearthstone create a daily flow of life that includes personal care, recreational and social activities. They also create and lead focused and purpose-driven activities using the Montessori principles and assist residents to feel a sense of belonging in the community by providing opportunities to engage in meaningful social interactions.
• Program Directors train and support all staff members in their recreational roles
• Ensures there is consistent, ongoing, and vibrant programming is equal in quality and content with early through late stage residents
• Develops an activity program addressing interests, needs, and abilities of all residents
• Assess all residents individually and participates in the service planning process formulating appropriate leisure activities and goals
• Trains, oversees, and assists Resident Companions in the facilitation of activities
• Runs activity groups on a daily basis along with the Resident Companions to ensure multiple activities are running between the hours of 10:00 AM — 7:00 PM
• Prepares and posts the weekly activity schedule for all programming levels
• Recruits, trains, and organizes volunteers to supplement activity program
• Actively involves families and the community in the activity program
• Provides creative opportunities for appropriate interactions between residents and the community
• Ensures the activity budget is within established parameters
• Assemble activity materials and communicates to Management Team and Resident Companion staff the location of supplies
• May have primary care responsibility for those participants requiring therapeutic interventions (OT/PT) to maximize function in all activities
• Plans monthly family events as well as ensuring the residence environment reflects the appropriate seasonal décor
• Ensures that opportunities are provided for all residents to regularly engage in cognitively stimulating activities
• Arranges regular outings to cultural institutions such as museums, concerts, etc.
• Thorough, engaging descriptions of monthly activities for the newsletter and website
• Acts as Manager on Duty when working the weekend rotation
• Is on call on a rotating basis with other managers

Qualifications:
• We prefer that applicants have a degree in occupational, physical, art, or recreational therapy. • • Experience as an activity director or therapy aide may be substituted for a degree
• One or more years of experience managing resident aide staff
• USA work authorization
• Able to work rotating weekends/evenings and take call 1X per month as part of a regular chedule
• Preference will be given to those who have had specific experience with running activities for the Alzheimer’s population.

August 7th, Google News Story . Adam Martin of CouncilChronicle.com had this to say... According to researchers, People who read live longer that people who do not read at all. So if you want to live longer, you should read more. Data from more than 3,500 participants was analysed. All the people were over the age of 50 and they were asked some questions about reading. The research team took into consideration many factors, such as gender, education level, income, and race. They then made three groups. One was for the people who did not read any books, the second for those who read almost three hours a week and the last one for those who read longer than that. What did the researchers find out? Well, it seems that those who read more were 17 percent less likely today in the next 12 years.

Provident Village at Creekside, a premier senior living community in Smyrna, GA, seeks a Life Enrichment Coordinator to plan a therapeutic recreation program for residents as part of a total resident care plan; provide supervision and protection of residents during activities; provide transportation for residents to attend activities outside the community; supervise activity assistants and volunteers; maintain current activity assessments, care plans, and applicable forms to meet current state and federal guidelines; and maintain inventory of necessary supplies and equipment to meet the needs of the therapeutic recreation program. Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.

Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Excellent organization, time management, and customer service skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office programs.
Knowledge and understanding of the social, psychological, and recreational needs of the elderly and disabled populations, and the ability to plan and organize activities geared toward the needs of those populations.
Demonstrated creativity, enthusiasm, patience, integrity, and a positive attitude toward elderly and disabled populations.
Demonstrated leadership ability and willingness to cooperate and work with others.
Must possess basic understanding of medical terminology.
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Fluency in other languages is helpful.
