Wacky Day for Feb 8th: Boy Scout Anniversary - Have a troop or 2 come to the facility & do some work to earn a badge. Opera Day -- Watch a DVD or play a CD that has Opera & afterwards have a discussion about it.
Just a heads up Feb 11-17 is Random Acts of Kindness Week. This could make a great week long celebration.
-
Feb 6th is Digital Learning Day. Set up a computer & work with residents in small groups. Show them things they can use or do with a computer. Bring up Pinterest, twitter etc. Then show them how emails work. Maybe make another activity next day showing them phones.
-
February 4th Wacky Days are: Quacker Day, USO Day & World Cancer Day.
Quacker Day can be celebrated 2 ways: 1 Quacker Factory fashions wake up your wardrobe with playful sequins, rhinestones, embroidery, and sparkling details. Get some T-shirts & let the residents show their colorful ideals and showcase their whimsical side.
2. The other way to celebrate is to have some good old fashion Quacker Oatmeal. Make up a trivia game to play while eating the oatmeal.
No matter what you choose to do as a activity today be sure that it is fun.
Thank you

Mamika
My Mighty Little Grandmother
An uplifting, arresting, and utterly hilarious gift book showcasing the world's oldest real-life superhero: the 93-year-old grandmother and global media sensation, Mamika. Mamika has been featured in major newspapers, magazines, special interest blogs, and websites worldwide. The idea to photograph Mamika began when bestselling author and photographer Sacha Goldberger wanted to raise the spirits of his once quite spirited grandmother by engaging her in an activity they could do together.
Look for this book in Amazon.com or do a search for it.

Judy Faust
Connect Your Stories
Website URL - http://www.connectyourstories.com
Filmmaker and presenter Judy Faust shows her own documentaries to all
levels of retirement communities. Angels of Austria: the church who reached out to
Holocaust survivors, was very well received.
It is about healing from war.
Now she has a new movie out,
"See What's Whispered: the legacy of artist David C. Baker",
about an innovative painter in New Hampshire told by the community that
loved him. Another movie is a tribute to a dying Italian grandmother. All
Judy's movies are short: 20-50 minutes long and she engages the audience with
her lively Q & A, which some have said is as fun as the movies are. Previews
are at the website.

Hi Deanna
You may be getting to late of a start to book someone. Look for some Bell Ringers or other entertainers. I would check with churches, family, staff & other AD's in your area.
Otherwise how about a nice dinner for residents & family members. Have Santa deliver the gifts to residents & play Xmas music.
Good luck

Combine a package of instant chocolate pudding with 3/4 cup of milk. Add 1/4 cup vodka and 1/2 cup Irish Cream, then fold in 8 ounces of Cool Whip. Put into individual serving cups, and store in the freezer until the party (I mean activity, lol) starts!

It is a game but so well loved by residents that it is worth the trouble -- Bingo -- copy a hugh stack of your card so that they can be tossed after the game is over & use either the blotters or something that can be tossed afterwards like pinto beans.
maybe this could be done if you have a popcorn machine you could make up lots of small bags & then take those into the unit.
how long are they in isolation? that would be a determining factor on what to spend as far as activities go.
best of luck keep us informed.
-
The Wacky day for June 21st is...... Go Skate Day. Now I don't recommend that you let residents go skating. However maybe a good skating movie with some snacks & drinks, like those you would have if you were at a roller rink, would be a great activity.
-
Wacky Day for June 18th is International Panic Day. Hopefully this is a day that you will not have to use
Tomorrow June 19th is Juneteenth Day.
-
Just a reminder about --35th Annual National Nursing Assistants Week June 14-21, 2012
