  1. Thank you for the nice web site. I can hardly wait to do this at work. This would also be a way for my junior volunteers to learn about each resident. Thanks, Stasia
  2. I have done bulletin boards several ways. When I first started we used the bulletin board to put decorations on that have to do with the month. I have done bulletin boards to distinguish resident of the month. With this I include pictures of them and their families, date of birth ( Month and date only), birth place, advice they would give to the younger generation. I also use the bulletin board to honor each department or volunteers I
  3. How did the Father"s Day activities go? They sounded great. Are there any changes that you would make ? Thanks
  4. How did the Fatheers Day activities go? They sounded great. Any changes? Thanks
  5. Be sure to have behaviors and your actions care planned. If we have someone upsetting the rest in an activity, another staff person will take them back to their room. After the activity, I go to the room to see if there was a reason for the disturbance. If the behavior continues or gets worse, do you have a counselor from the community that could talk to the resident. Document what happened and what response was. We have had exit seekers. Care plans are usually held giving the familiy notice and a list of lock down facilities. Each time the resident would try to leave, her family was notified. One of our interventions was to be aware of where we place her. Good luck.
  6. Are your residents able to sort, fold? In this hot weather, they could make hand held fans using a piece of wall paper. Glue the ends of the fan together. If residents are capapble, they can decorate the fan. If you llive close to a store that carries wall paper, they will have out dated catalogs, giving them to you for free.
  7. For my activity form - my sheet lists different types of activities. On each day of the month I write if the resident participated (A)actively or (P)passively. If the resident refused activity I write a ®. On Sundays and Mondays I do a summary paragraph on the computer regarding that resident. Activities and activity calendar must match.
  8. My calenda ris 11x17. My template comes from this activity web site. Upon completing calendar, I enlarge the11x17 calendar for one gentleman. His daughter had gone to the library to do this one month and I picked up the idea from there. It is good customer service. If someone has difficulty seeing the calendar posted on the wall, I hand them a calendar to keep at their bedside. Good Luck
  9. One of my tough spots is care plans. Seeing bed bound resident is also hard. If I have items for them to do in room, they are not given supplies or tape recorder turned on for talking books. Spartans
  10. Find out what the female resident is interested in. If you have to do research to begin a conversation about it, it will be worth it. i have found out that family, and old hobbies bring up conversation and a smile. Ask family for ideas, read her cchart or ask a staff member that she enjoys. Good Luck, smile at her
