  5. Hi.. one of the most important things is durable.. Panasonics Toughbook is one of the best.. they have a website to sell them exchanged and refurbished.. my husband worked at Compaq computers and he always said that the refurbished computers were the best .. not only did they get the quick test during production, but that they had failed and come back to be retested, one on one, with an expert, and every part that didnt pass was replaced ... they could not afford to have it come back again.. if it was not repairable it was thrown away. http://www.toughbookxchange.com/index.php get a laptop that has an Ethernet Connection, Wireless Ready, Camera/Picture Card Reader, Firewire Connection (video Connect) and webcam .. the wireless and the ethernet are to hook to the internet.. check with your facility to see which would work, camera reader takes the cards from the digital cameras and puts your pictures on the computer so that you can mail them to family and friends, Firewire will let you copy your video camera stuff to the camera if you want to send a small movie, and a webcam can be used for live visits with residents, family and friends (Christmas Time...) look for a good laptop tray http://www.goldviolin.com/ProductDetails.a...oductCode=90458 http://www.belkin.com/laptopathome/pockettop/ What Businessweek says.... http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/conte...45/b3907419.htm this is my opinion.. hope it helps... This was just one of the many quotes sounded at this years SORIM/LTC Seminar in Tampa. The Symposium on Regulatory Issues for Management in Longterm Care the annual meeting of our state surveyors, CMS officials and Federal Regulators. Bill Freiberg (Publisher, Current Activities) attended the seminar and spoke first hand with many of our CMS Surveyors who believe that the Activities Profession could well become one of the most important in the longterm, geriatrics care industry, as it will be at the center of the new culture change. All AD's should be focusing on getting educated, and sharing information like this with everyone in the LTC Industry and being prepared. Federal Regulators and CMS Surveyors will have new computerized surveying system along with the possibility of stiffer civil penalties to enforce the New Code of Federal Regulations. All of us AD's need to be sure that we are or getting certified, keeping our CEU's up to date & attending as many seminars as possible that will enhance our education. MEPAPEnrollPack.pdf

  19. Hi First off you should not have to deleted your topic as this is what the board is for. Second it truly ashame that your AD is lazy & so rude to you. I would say go to the Admin about this but it seems that it would do no good. But I do think that if you quit you should go to the Admin & explain why you are quitting. It may not be heard but it would be fair for the resident's. They are the ones who are really paying the price from such a bad facility. In answer to your question, are all facilities this way "NO". Yes you do get the lazy folks no matter where you work, the no team palyers but they are usually few. If you love the job other than the AD have you thought about going to a different facility to work? You should try to so that you can see what it is like to work at a normal place. I can't really say anything else I do think you should look for another job & get out of there life is to short to let a job do this to you. Give yourself a Xmas gift & start looking for another facility to work in by the first of the year. Happy Holidays Pennie
