Our dietary department recently started a fresh snack program and we're killing a bunch of birds with one stone by incorporating it with our morning and afternoon activities (free supplies for us, residents get their snacks, one less thing for nursing to do, and residents LOVE activities with food, so this is awesome!) But I'm running out of good names. Since it's almost every day, I don't want to reuse the same names too much. And the snacks are not consistent, so I can't be specific on that (like French Toast Tuesdays or something). Here's what I have so far: Hydration Station Relaxation & Refreshment Juice Bar Snack & Chat Coffee & News Fun in the Kitchen Kitchen Creations Anything else? Sandiie13 0 Report Share Posted January 26, 2010 Snack time to us in our facility is great..we do it before lunch and dinner in our activity department or if were having our activity going on in the dining room then we have our snacks in there as well..the resident's love snacking..we also keep an eye on the resident whom have lost weight..so this way we help them get to where they need to be... well call it a snack social, juice social, ice cream social, just to name a few... turtle 0 Report Share Posted April 17, 2010 We did not name our snack time. It is simply incorporated into our morning and afternoon activities. It is not necessarily as seperate time as there are usually other things going on, such as music, trivia or word games, while they are eating. This works just as well on our dementia unit. We decided that it was just one more thing to come up with a clever name for on an already full calendar and opted not to.
