pkc 0 Report Share Posted August 13, 2009 We are having a festival soooon. We are having games for the residents which isn't a problem! We are also having games for kids of varing ages. I need prizes (CHEAP) ideas?? Will check out the usual sorces but how many do I get when I have no idea how many are coming? I think maybe 25 is a nice number to go with but do I plan one per or two??
Ella 0 Report Share Posted August 13, 2009 I had a Carnival for the Residents a couple of years ago with several games. I also encouraged family members to bring the kids. I did not get a big turnout from families but the residents enjoyed the games. I ordered my prizes from Oriental Trading and focused on prizes that came in UNITS (1 UNIT = 1 Dozen for $2.99 etc.). I awarded one prize per game and as I remember had 6 or 7 games set up so the residents ended up with 6 or 7 prizes which was plenty. When we were done, all of the leftover prizes were stored for a few months and then I used them in a special "Grab Bag Bingo Game" where the items were placed in brown paper bags where the bingo winners picked a bag but didn't know what was in the bag. You can also use the leftover items for other games you play or give as treats to visiting children to make them feel welcome. Hope this helps! Jodiojodi 0 Report Share Posted August 14, 2009 Don't know your budget but definately Oriental Trading for prizes. you know better about whether you will have a good turn out, but I always feel that is better to have too many than not enough. Extras can be used for another time. Good luck!
dudaca 0 Report Share Posted August 27, 2009 We just had a carnival and it was GREAT! We asked staff members to help by bringing stuffed animals that their kids didn't use and they just wanted to get rid of. I cleaned out my granddaughters room with her and we came up with three large bags of stuffed animals that she has never even played with. Works great! dudaca

I just type up a letter of request and print it out on company letterhead. I personally go into each business and explain whats going on and ask...They can only say no...but most don't. I get good support from the businesses in my area. I also ask for donations from family members in my monthly newsletter and get good response there also...Good Luck
cindytexan 1 Report Share Posted September 9, 2009 When we have festivals we use snacks for prizes. This is a big hit with the Residents. We use A bag of chips, pudding cups, peanut butter crackers, soda's etc...
tmr4040 0 Report Share Posted September 10, 2009 You may want try a local dollar store. They give us picture frames, lotions, etc that we use for giveaways. Another idea is to talk to local home healths or hospices that market to you. They will provide prizes, cakes for parties, gift cards, etc. My last idea is to talk to the local RSVP. If you use the RSVP for volunteers, they may have a gift area of donations that they will let you use. These are a few ways we get prizes for our events. aaron 0 Report Share Posted October 6, 2009 When I have parties for any occasions I usually go to our neighborhood Dollar Store. I can purchase a variety of prizes for only one dollar. The residents and family members seem to enjoy what I purchase and I am able to purchase at least $40.00 worth of prizes so that means 40 gifts. I like to have more than enough prizes so that we can do on going games. It always works for me. Thank You! Edna Carrillo
