  1. we just recieved our rating it was a 5 there are 5 areas we had 3 -5 and 2 -3 's There are 6 other facilities in our local area and only one other had 5's which I was surprised due to one of the nursing homes is a new facility. There were only 2 that had resident and family councils also which also surprised me. I'm not sure how much it will based on by consumers. It seems like there is getting so much for people to look it at prior to a comittement to place someone. which is a good thing.
  2. I'd like toadd to the topic of the role of the AD in the QA process. I am now taking on the role of AD in our Alzheimer's Comunity as wellas being the Socail worker and the Program Director wooh! I se th AD of the other 2 units very limited on what thye have to input. they report on resident council and that is usually not very involved. whi ch I have a problem with but.. Withus trying to lean on the person centered drive.. it is hard to get staff to buy into it. Thjeir goal is to keeep the residents sfa and clean and fed... i have great staff but change is a reality. Any ideas to get them more involved would being made more aware of QA abd what it means would that help? Im open to nay ideas...
  3. I also have to give inservices as the social service person and now activities. They both go hand in hand. I always touch on rights and dignity and focus on choice In almost every stage of a dementai they are able in some way to make a choice verbally or expressions.I do role playing and it really helps to show how it feels to be not given a choice esp in activities now
  4. Hello I really feel bad for you. I agree with some of the others. There is no hope here and what is so disheartning if they are treating you like this how are they treating the residents? Do you have a hotline to your office it sounds like it might be to take a stand or go somewhere alse. It is very difficult to give your all when your all isnt good enough.. and yes not all people are like that so hold on to your kool and go where youll be respected and you can the residents all you have to give and good luck
  5. Hi my name is Karen Lashley I am from Marion, Ohio. I am a Social Worker and a Program Director for an Alzheimer's Community at Community healthcare which is a Kindred facility. I've been with this company for 12 years and I love it. I am now taking the Activity Director course. So far so good. I hope to learn more and find new friends to share an exciting time with. I love to learn about everything. I enjoy working with Alzheimer's residents and know there is so much to learn. I hope you'll help me with your knowledge and experiences Thanks in advance.
