StacieO 0 Report Share Posted July 5, 2005 I agree w/ Karen, they need to be done on Computer to look professional (my opinion). I really prefer a calendar that is 11 x 17 in size. It is much easier for my residents to read. I have seen some facilities that use "letter" size, & that's just too small. I do have a few graphics on my calendar, but not many, it can seem cluttered & can confuse some residents. I also include our residents birthday's on the calendar (those that have signed our form stated it is ok to do so - HIPAA strikes again). Another thing that I HAVE to put on the calendar is a small little statement, "changes to monthly calendar will be noted on the daily calendars." I have a resident's wife who LOVES to find a schedule change & point out, "That wasn't on the calendar." UGH. Stacie Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

crnhusker 0 Report Share Posted July 5, 2005 :-D I DO MINE ON A COMPUTER, THEN PRINT IT OUT ON 17 X 11 PAPER. I THEN GO TO KINKO'S TO BLOW IT UP TO 45 X 35 ONE FOR EACH WING OF THE FACILITY. THEN WE HAVE RESIDENTS MAKE BOARDERS FOR THE OUTSIDE OF EACH CALENDAR. FOR JULY I HAD RESIDENTS MAKE AN AMERICAN FLAG PATTERN BOARDER FOR EACH CALENDAR. phxville 0 Report Share Posted July 6, 2005 As of this moment I print out my calendars without a program and cut out the individual days and glue them to an 11x17 calendar...Grrr. Its so time consuming and annoying, I know there must be a better way. Do any of you have a program that makes 11x17 calendars and is appropriate for activities calendar. mawbell 0 Report Share Posted July 9, 2005 :-) Hi, I use Microsoft Publisher software and love it. I print it out on a normal sheet and then use the photocopier to blow it up on a 11x17 sheet. They create a gigantic calendar printed in color and mail it to me each month! The calendars look great, and the residents love to find out what the theme will be each month. It costs about $60 for a calendar 34"x44". You can order calendars as big as: 42"x60" or as small as: 8 1/2" x 11." THIS WORKS GREAT! i know that it costs extra but its worth it! I take my in room calendars (11x17) to a local printing shop and they design it. It costs me about $125 for 100 calendars and newsletters. I always made the newsletter and calendar myself and leave them with Kinkos to do the work I would blow up 2 to 20x24 I think and then 100, 11x17 to pass out to the residents and 100 newsletters and it was never more than $100. I just send our calendar that I type on activity connection to our "big" copy machine (via facility network) & by the time I walk down the hall to get it, I have 100 copies on 11x17 paper. I honestly don't know how much the paper costs, because this isn't really budgeted to each department (not yet anyway), but I have the annual fee to activity connection. You are really organized if you can send out your calendar & have it mailed back!!! I sometimes make changes minutes before I print it. My gas budget for 2005 wasn't even $2000. (Here in Minnesota, we don't do much out on the bus from about November to April). From reading this topic, it just goes to show, "there's more than one way to skin a calendar!" When I go to blow up the calendar from 8.5x11 to 11x17 it doesn't fill up the whole page! HELP. I thought I was so close but now I feel like I am back at the beginning. I know there is probably some easy way to solve the problem but I am slightly mechanically challenged, especially with copiers and printers....Thanks so much for your help! Guest Tinki Report Share Posted July 29, 2005 Hey when I would go to Kinkos to have them blow the calendar up, I would ask them to center it in the middle of the page.
