GinaFilice 0 Report Share Posted February 23, 2005  Can you believe that our agency has REFUSED to pay for our staff to have access to ActivityConnection! See, the problem is we are so understaffed! I myself, run my entire department on my own - that includes admin and front line - I can't survive without ActivityConnection! If anyone has any suggestions please, I need help! I will burn out before the end of next month! I guarantee! GinaFilice HELP!
Kate 0 Report Share Posted February 23, 2005 Gina, I am so sorry to hear about administration not being able to provide you with the materials you obviously need to conduct your job properly. To offer you an alternative, you may want to check out Activity Director's Guide, we are offering a limited time special of only $20 for an annual subscription. We understand that there are going to be many budget cuts and here is our solution. For more information and some sample pages of the magazine please visit our website at http://www.activities4elders.com/ Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or there is any other way that I can help you. Take care, Kate
StacieO 0 Report Share Posted February 23, 2005 I can't believe that! Do you have an auxiliary or some other organization that would pay for it for you? Local services clubs (Lions, Kiwanis, VFW, etc). How about a fundraiser (bake sale or something)? At least Admin. would realize how strongly you feel about it! It's a super website, & w/ the amount of time I save using it, I really feel that it pays for itself. My administrator didn't bat an eye when I brought it up to him, but I later decided to cut out a subscription (for creative forecasting) that we felt we could live w/out. I have YEARS of Creative Forecasting in binders in our office. Best of luck.
Diana 0 Report Share Posted February 23, 2005 Hi Gina - that's the reason I don't use Activity Connection - too pricey! Believe me, you can find SO MUCH without having to pay for it! Activity Director's Office has free newsletter, Gina is on that site and has WONDERFUL activity ideas - once again FREE!!!! You don't have to pay to do a great job for activities. I also am a once woman show and don't have the funds for Activity Connection. You'll do GREAT! I promise! just use your resourses and the other sites that are offered through this one! kristas_mom3 0 Report Share Posted March 13, 2005 I am sorry to hear of your situation. Administration does not pay for my access to the site either. I pay and out of my own pocket. The way I look at it is it provides peace of mind for me, it reduces the amount of time I need spending planning for programs, it's creative and fun...It is a shame that facilities are so unwilling to pay for these things...but if you can afford it, it's worth it. OR...put a "Wish List" in your newsletter. That might be something a family member or organization (if you provide a copy of your newsletter to your community) might be willing to donate. It's worth a try...good luck!
sloughmiller 0 Report Share Posted March 13, 2005 :-) Hi Gina, I am new to the list and am taking an online class to be an AD and have heard about the Activity Connection Website and have been there. I am in health care(COTA) and we know not to "expect" our companies to understand. My AD says that if you have been a member for about 1 year, it kind of repeats itself. (Activity Connection) This looks like a great website for help. How long have you been an AD? You can always repeat activities. Hopefully, I am understanding what you will be missing by not having the Activity Connection. Wonder if you paid for it if you could take it off your taxes? Hope this helps. You are not alone.
