Wall Calendar Decor

Does anyone have any GREAT ideas for September Calendar decorating? We have a large activity calendar posted (35 x 42) and it fits exactly in a wooden frame. Our corporate people say they want too see more 3-D style decorating in use. I can't put much on the calendar area itself or it will cover the calendar. I can't make holes of any kind in the wooden frame. And DEFINITELY (this is corporate policy!) no tape, push-pins or holes in the walls. What's left?? For August I used a spray of very real-looking sunflowers in a corner with vines trailing across the top and down one side. This is what they said was not enough. I am at a loss! Help!

Hi Laree!

Boy, sounds like you have a challenge on your hands! Ask corporate and your Administrator exactly what they have in mind! Maybe other sister facilities have used ideas for that specific request of no pushpins, tape, etc.

I wish I had a solution! Have you perhaps tried a built in shelf with see through glass? It would probably have to be pretty big, multipurposed for everything from displaying the calendar to displaying residents arts and crafts, or dominoe scores!

Good luck!

Does your calendar take up the whole area?

If not, how about a fall scene with acorns, falling leaves, and apples. Use glue or staples. One of my staff members made a tree out of construction paper. Sometimes the dollar store has items you can use. Also see what the teachers stores may have. Good luck.

We are using "grandparents day" as the theme for the september bulletin board.

All of my clients( I work in a day care for aLzheimer and dementia) families are bringing in photographs of their great and grandchildren to display on the board. It is a great conversation starter and they all enjoy looking at the children.

I have the same situation regarding using things hanging on the wall. I get a lot of decorations from a teachers supply store and use them. They are colorful, heavy duty and can be hung with plastic tack.. No marks on the wall and a lot of dimention can be added. They are certainly reusable. For September I have a

6 ft Scarecrow that will lounge outside of my frame and point towards my calander.

I have a lot of small pieces that I change throughout the fall, but the scarecrow stays until the end of November. I have pumpkins, corn, acorn, leaves, sunflowers, mice, ect... all made from adorable paper cut outs. The residents help

to punch these out so I get an unscheduled group activity in the bargin...

Hi,

Since Sept is here I won't suggest any deco ideals. I worked a facility that also used a wooden frame for the cal. Same rules as you have. I found some stuf called Tack it, it is either blue or white in color. You can use it any where. Once you take the deco down remove the tack it. They sell this at Wal-Mart, office supplies etc.

The only problem I had w/ tack-it was if there was a sudden change in temp., inside the building sometimes the items fall off the wall.

Other is remove the tack-it at end of month. It may leave a spot on the white or lighter walls if left longer than that. I never had any problems using it on the doors or any wood type surfaces.

FUN TAK, aka WALL GLUE, your receptionist should be able to order through office supplies-so it will not go on activities budget-and you are able to use it over and over again. Its also sold at any office supply store, walgreens, walmart/target/kmart. I use it on everything-does not take the finish off wooden doors as tape would-does not peel paint off walls either. Check in any school supply sections of stores-could possibly be at grocery stores too.
