actpro 0 Report Share Posted April 9, 2004 I have been an AD since 1997...I love what I do...I found my calling when I became an AD. I live in a small town outside of Ballinger, Texas. Then drive to Ballinger to work. I hope everyone loves their job as well as I do. It is very rewarding to go into work and watch all the smiles take place, right then, is when you know you are loved. I would like to say "Hi" to all the AD's out there. Have a great day!!
Pennie 26 Report Share Posted April 26, 2004 Hi, I know that I too love this work. Their are days I wonder why but for the most part we all know we show up & do it day after day , for the money We wished. It's rare to have any 2 days alike in this work & you learn so much from the residents. Do you rememner the show "Kids say the darnenst things"? Well I think we should have one but for the elders! I have been burned-out a few times, changed my postions but always involved in the activity field of this. No other profession gives me what this one does. By the way were is Ballinger? I also live in Texas. I have lived in Lubbock, Cleburne, Houston & Livingston.
actpro 0 Author Report Share Posted January 8, 2005 :-P Do you know where Abilene is? Ballinger is about fourty miles south of there. It is a small town. Yes, I have been really upset with my job right now, it is due to people that work their though. My residents keep me going. We are owned by a corporation, and I don't like it. But have to deal with so much, it gets old fast. Where do you live in Texas? I need to come to this site more often. I just don't have alot of time. Nice talking with you. Later.... Diana 0 Report Share Posted January 8, 2005 ActPro - you're from Ballinger? OH! I used to live in Abilene - I know the area pretty well. WE moved to San Antonio 4 years ago - love it here - still trying to figure everything out though Which corp are you owned by? I am trying to think I have a sister facility in Ballinger. southwind 0 Report Share Posted January 9, 2005 I also love my job I've been working with Seniors for many many years and I wouldn't want to change it for anything. Like always there are other people in the workplace that try to make our lives miserable, but, I do have to say that when I wake up each morning I am excited about going to work. It is a wonderful feeling to know that I make my residents happy and smile, even the ones nobody thought was possible. My only downfall is having days off. I know I need them to get some rest but I would rather be with my residents. If I am off for more than 2 days they are sad and when I return they all say "Welcome Home". If that isn't rewarding enough I don't know what would be. It certainly isn't the money....
