mashonda 0 Report Share Posted January 10, 2006 What are you all planning to do for superbowl sunday? Yearly, I try to have a superbowl sunday party for my men at the nursing home. Now I have a lot of residents that are on pureed and/or thickened liquids. I previously would get non-alcoholic beer, pizza, chips or something along that line. Now with all of the diet precautions, it's hard to get some of the men to come. Any ideas/suggestions?
Pennie 26 Report Share Posted January 10, 2006 Hi, Are you're men not coming because they are the one's put on the diet restrictions or is it because you are no longer serving the non-alcoholic beer, pizza, chips etc? If it is because of the diet thing talk with dietary for some suggestions. If it because of the food no longer being served well you should serve it and have food that the ones on diet restriction can eat/drink. Another way to encouage them to attend is by making the activity more exciting. Example: Make up a football pool, offer a prize, have each resident write down the number that equales the 2 final scores added together i.e. Bucs, 24 and Dolphins, 40 total is 64 . The person coming closest to the total w/o going over (Price is right rules) wins the prize. Call this the FOOTBALL POOL (Be sure to include you're residents that are 1:1's or In-rm in the football pool game) Do a Football Trivia game during commericals, invite men from the community, family members etc. to attend/watch the game with them. Pass out small door prizes through-out the game. Ex: Football cards, team hats, team shirts, check out dollar store for football related items. The outlet stores has shirts, caps etc. on the teams that didn't make it to the Superbowl. If you need more help or unclear about some of this info. let us know. Share with us anything else that you come up with. P
AggieTiff 0 Report Share Posted January 10, 2006 We have invited a group of highschoolers in that volunteer all year round. They are a young men's group. We will have pizza and all the usual snacks and beer and such. I am in an assisted living and the ones who are on special diets are considered,,...the pizza can be pureed (we have pizza night once a month and it is a huge success). This will act as our super bowl party as well as a volunteer appreciation for the boys. I thihk it will be fun. We have a ladies group coming in that day as well, for the ladies who are not interested in football. They are going to do a craft for valentines day.
