well first you need to go to nccap.org and find out what track you are on to get certified. if you need the mepap classes they are offered through activity directors network online. i was an assistant and am working to get my ad and i was also helping with mds, calendar etc. as the ad you will be in charge, have more meetings to attend depending on your building, the mds, calendar, care plans, charting, you will be the one that everyone goes to if they have a problem with your department, hiring and firing, planning the big events and getting them done, helping the other department heads, and the basic manager duties. talk to your administrator and see if they will help you get these classes to get your certification. hope this helps. julia
