Yesterday I saw a blog about March Maddness...now most of you know that I live in Syracuse, NY home of Syracuse University (Go Orange!) and that it is a fever here every winter and spring. Its what gets us through the snow storms and greyness!
The blooger urged people to encourage the activity directors to get their residents involved events such as March Maddness and other national sporting events as well as community events. I thought about it and then stewed about it....see I know that you all have Super Bowl parties, who your favorite Baseball teams are and know that you all celebrate the local and national sporting events. I know that you all go to community events and I know that you all celebrate whatever holiday there is with gusto!
So how do we educate the masses? I would love your suggestions....how do we get the word out that we are encouraging the residents to participate in national events and holidays?

NCCAP Vision Committee
Thanks for clicking on this! I need volunteers to spend some time surfing the web. Antoinette McConnell volunteered and I know that a couple of you might be able to help as well. We need to find specific contacts and people who are not in the activities profession, but need to know about the activities profession. The movers and shakers of long term care. If you can find some and list their names, addresses, e-mails, Facebook pages, Twitter accounts…anything online that you can find that would be awesome! NCCAP would like to reach out and educate the health care community about Activity Professionals.
When I refer to long term care, I mean the entire milieu, skilled, assisted living, adult day health, swing beds, short term rehab, home health, hospice the whole realm of long term care.
Task # 4: Research and develop lists of contacts that NCCAP can interact with on a professional level and include in mailings and provide information to concerning the need to hire NCCAP certified individuals. To include, but not be limited to specific contacts, names, e-mails, twitter accounts, Facebook and other social networking.
I have developed some categories and when you find them let me know! Kathyhughes@activitydirector.com
Administrator Groups and Individuals
Long Term Care Nursing Groups and Individuals
Culture Change Groups and Individuals
Dietary Groups and Individuals
Memory Care Groups and Individuals
Staff Development Groups and Individuals
This list is not exclusive, if you know someone or have contact information about someone let me know.
Thank-you so much for considering serving on this committee!
