  1. another one they seem to enjoy would be recorded races. hourses, cars just a race. i let them bet on the winner we watch the race and the winner takes all. you know they love the prizes
  2. it is a great time to go fishing. or even i had a mens group come in and bring trophies , pictures of big catch, served refreshments give out fishing caps and you know the women still came to the event. they shared stories and everyone enjoyed it.
  3. hi chuck have you tried wash and ready? it is an activity that the residents seem to enjoy before meals. i place wash clothes in a large bowl. i pour flavoring such as vanilla, orange, mint, lemon you get the idea right. then i add very warm warm water clothes i wring out the fliud and pass them out to the residents to wash thier faces and hands . they enjoy the warm cloths and they get to guess what scent it is. if we get at least two different guesses we have a show of hands or verbal agreements. i get to document for sensory activity, it helps me know who actually still has the function. it jogs thier mind we guess what the scent reminds them on and they have cleaner hands for eating the meal. i hope this us useful
  4. i think it would work well just to pass refreshments to everyone. then the winner would get bragging rights. perhaphs to make a large board to keep track of the winners.
  5. I usually keep a cart for room-visits. My favorite is a manilla folder with pockets of differtent colors i glued on. a total of eight . inside of pockets i place flash cards or cut-out pictures. these can be changed to holiday or seasons. you can use pictures of family members as well. the resident picks a pocket and tells me what the picture is , what it reminds them of and it just goes on and on. they tell such great stories. i have aromatherapy on the cart. a swatch with different textures. they touch and tell me how it feels, what could be made of such fabric and so on. lotions as stated before. nail polish. cds. newspaper for current events. flash cards of colors and words. playing cards. combs and brushes. alcohol gel...puzzles. i wish you great success!!!
  6. tHOSE ARE GREAT IDEAS. I HAVE CALLED THE NEARBY NURSERYS AND ASKED THEM TO DONATE SMALL TREES AND OR PLANTS FOR THE RESIDENTS TO PLANT. THE RESIDENTS SELECT WHERE TO PLANT THE TREE OR TREES IT DEPENDS HOW GENEROUS THEY ARE WITH DONATIONS. AND OF COURSE DURING THE WEEK WE DISCUSS AND HAVE HISTORY OF EARTH DAY AND TRIVIA. AND OF COURSE REFRESHMENTS AFTER WE PLANT THE TREES. THEN AFTERWARDS IT ADDS AN ACTIVITY FOR WATERING AND UPKEEP OF PLANTS AND THE TREES. MOST OF THEM HAVE GREEN THUMBS SO THAT IS WHAT I CALL THE ACTIVITY AFTER THAT DAY. i TOO HAVE USED THE CREATIVE FORCAST, EVEN THE OLD ONES ARE STILL GREAT!
