Guest Jerseygirl Report Share Posted February 4, 2005 We had issues with christmas decorations in the residents rooms needing to be flame retardent. Our maintnance department picked up some flame retarent spray. You might see if that will work ok. Jersey
Pennie 26 Report Share Posted February 5, 2005 Hi there, I have never heard this before :-? The only thing I have ever heard about was to be sure that you stay so many feet away from the springler systems and that you can must have so many inches from the celing (sp). Did they have a problem with any other thigs? Please let us know how you handle this. Any of us could be faced with this problem later too, I hope not :-? StacieO 0 Report Share Posted February 9, 2005 That's really scary! We've never had an issue, other than what Pennie pointed out, about being so far away from sprinklers. We did some re-decorating a few years ago & purchased the flame resistant spray for our swags & floral arrangements (silks), but we have never had an issue w/ any other decorations, including Christmas stuff. Was this the only issue the fire marshal found in your facility? It would be interested to find out if this inspector has sited other facilities for the same issue & find out what steps they took to correct this. Maybe our laws in MN our a little less strict! Stacy 0 Report Share Posted February 9, 2005 I went through a similar situation a few years back. I just can't remember if it was the fire marshal, or state inspectors. I'm from Illinois also. We had bought a spray and used it. It was a pain, but that is what had to be done. However, I no longer work there, and haven't had a problem at any other facilities regarding this issue. I also did not keep the information on the spray. I do know that it was my maintanence manager that found it. When you have to go through all that work, the girls did take care of things a lot better. We ended up saving everything that we could once we sprayed it. Diana 0 Report Share Posted February 10, 2005 Recently I had a JAHCO surveyor say the same thing, but she didn't enforce anything. She also reccomended the spray.
