Pennie 26 Report Share Posted December 14, 2004 Has anyone had to deal with DAVE yet? Share w/ us what this effect has had in activites &/or any changes you have made to meet these requorements. While the main goal of the Data Assessment and Verification (DAVE) program is MDS accuracy, CMS is also using DAVE to make sure it doesn't pay facilities more Medicare dollars than they've earned for providing resident care. As a result, if you can't prove that your assessments are accurate, you may have to give back reimbursement you've already received. What is DAVE? What does a DAVE review mean for your facility? lllucas 0 Report Share Posted December 15, 2004 Hi, Pennie! :-) I've just started to feel the effects of DAVE. I don't have much to report at this time. However, the biggest impact I have noticed in my department is in charting and record keeping. It has become a lot more intensive with details. I think Nursing charting is probably impacted the most. I'll keep you informed. Best Wishes, Linda Lucas, AD ;-) http://www.theactivitydirectorsoffice.com
Stacy 0 Report Share Posted December 15, 2004 One of my facilities is still waiting for a DAVE review. They handed it in several months ago. I'll let you know what changes, if any were made. Activities didn't have too much impact on what was sent in. As long as the charting is there and you are doing what is said. You should be fine. What is everyone doing with the new PA reimbursement? what changes are you making as far as groups?
Diana 0 Report Share Posted December 15, 2004 I am almost sure I know what you are talking about. For the past 3 to 4 months, I have had to do what I call "double documenting" for DAVE. I have to prove where I get my info, then make copies of it for corporate review. All departments have to do this. If it isn't accurate, it is sent back. Not fun - lot more time in the charts then before!!!
