Breanna 0 Report Share Posted August 3, 2011 Hello everyone: I was wondering what everyone is planning for assisted living week? It will be here soon, it starts on September 11th, and the theme is Forever Proud. I haven't planned for it before, and am just looking for some ideas. Thanks! Pennie 26 Report Share Posted August 10, 2011 Don't forget to check with your admission people. This week is set up to encourage the public & business to come to your facility, in hopes that they will recommend it. They may have evnets planned where doctors are invited to an open house or something all this line. See if you can have residents greet folsk at the door or somehow become involved. I have had craft shows duing this week long event. It was open to the residents, staff & community to sell craft items. I did all the advertising for this & it brought in alot of the community. Residents Council was responsible for the residents craft booth & they decided as a group what the funds raise were used for. Just another thought for you all. Hi Im new to the forum and love it already. We also are going to make some care packages and send them to our troops. Going to invite some veterans for lunch and honor them and also invite a near by assisted living for a card party and pizza. A blood drive at our facility to draw in the public and hopefuly give tours and educate them on assisted living. ttvad 0 Report Share Posted August 22, 2011 I have a whole week planned for Assisted Living Week. Sunday we are watching a virtual zoo online, Monday a group of local singers are putting on a USO show, complete with costumes and props. Tuesday a Veteran is coming to talk about his time spent in the South Pacific and Pearl Harbor. Wednesday its open house and we are serving "taco in a Bag" to the public. then that evening we are having our favorite band play with a pizza party. Thursday evening we will be playing "The Price is Right" hopefully with local merchants donating prizes. And Friday we are taking a trip to the casino.. This has been LOTS of work, spending all summer planning this fun week. My whole September budget is being spent on just this week!! But im super excited and cannot wait!! kabepo 0 Report Share Posted August 25, 2011 I've helped plan Assisted Living weeks for about 7 years now and here are a few things that are always a hit: Fresh bagels for breakfast (panera is always good), easy crafts the residents can make to give to the staff as a thank you (i.e. bookmarks), pet fashion shows with your local humane society, twin days (staff and residents wear similar outfits) and vote on best dressed twins, and family nights where we invite all the resident's family members for a bbq dinner then we post pictures on posterboard and display them all over the building. All of these can be tailored for each year's theme.
