felicityallyse 0 Report Share Posted October 31, 2008 Im new to activityirector.net, but have been in this field for a little over a year now. Recently the position of an Activity Director has become open in my facility and i am unsure about appying for the job. I know what it takes and am very prepared for the responsibilities, but very unsure of what is in store for me once getting the position. I need soem advice on what it involves and really how much more difficult it is from bieng an assistant; the position i have now. Ive been involved and dealt with many things from care plans, and MDS- to planning the monthly calender and preparing fall festivals. I just dont know whether im skilled yet for the spot. If you have any advice or pointers i would love to hear them!! thanks! felicity

That would be a great place to start if you have not done so already. Best wishes to you.

bgjuls18 0 Report Share Posted November 9, 2008 well first you need to go to nccap.org and find out what track you are on to get certified. if you need the mepap classes they are offered through activity directors network online. i was an assistant and am working to get my ad and i was also helping with mds, calendar etc. as the ad you will be in charge, have more meetings to attend depending on your building, the mds, calendar, care plans, charting, you will be the one that everyone goes to if they have a problem with your department, hiring and firing, planning the big events and getting them done, helping the other department heads, and the basic manager duties. talk to your administrator and see if they will help you get these classes to get your certification. hope this helps. julia
