Hello all,,,

Pass out fly swatters to residents sitting in a circle. Blow up a balloon and draw a big fly on it. It is truly amazing the powerful feeling you get when you have a flyswatter in your hand. Residents love hitting the balloon with the swatter, as do I,,lol....Jerusha

That is a really cute idea. I will try that with my residents this week for their pre-meal activity. One of my favorites is setting up tons of cones throughout the room and giving them a giant ball to knock them down. They love it...gets out a lot of aggression plus it is fun!

That's a really cute activity. Has the balloon ever burst while swatting it?

I do parachute circle and then do lower body exercise with a soft, giant ball. The residents are always so enthused when it's their turn to kick the ball.

Thankx! Will be adding FlyBall to August! We have started Wacky Ball. Original idea sent in was to use pool noodles and a punching bag balloon. I used a beach ball and cut the noodles in half, just seat in a circle and they whack that ball around! Sounds too simple to be fun, but it can really get their arms moving, makes a lot of noise but no one gets hurt, and best of all, the only ball game I don't have to chase the ball, since they can all reach it. Have also used it while seated at tables pre-meal, and just direct the ball around the room, using a noodle myself.

You're right..it amazes me how something so simple can be so great. My residents loved fly ball so I would imagine they'd love the noodle thing too. I'll try it.
