2Bfun 0 Report Share Posted June 26, 2008 (edited) I work in a Memory Care unit and have found the best activities to be team games. No pressure on any one person. One of my favorites is a modified ring toss game. The standard ring toss game is too hard for most residents, but in this version even the lower functioning residents will occasionally get a ringer. I use large rings that I got from a dollar store. They are made to be used in a swimming pool and are large and very soft. No way anyone can get hurt. If you can't find these rings you can use a Frisbee with the center cut out. I seat the residents in a circle and split them into two teams. The teams take turns tossing the rings. I score 5 points for a ringer or a leaner, which keeps it simple to score and I found that if you give them twenty five points for the center the scoring becomes to uneven. Works for me! jenniseaman 0 Report Share Posted July 7, 2008 Team Games. I too have found that team games seem to work well on our Special Care Unit. Here are some otherthings to try... tossing foam frisbees into a hola hoop or laundry basket, table ball, kickball, toss and catch, parachute games, horseshoes, bowling, and shuffleboard. Each of these games are easily adaptable for the highest and lowest functioning elders.
