What type of activities would you provide for a LTC resident who is deaf, mute, and blind?

If you truly have a resident who is fully B,D, M...you need to have alternative activities that are basically advanced sensory stim. If you have that then you would care plan as if it was a specialized one on one with other residents. Also, you will need a log that records any visits from family and friends. I would also contact all service organizations that deal specifically with the impediments that you have.

 

 

Also, consider pet therapy with this resident and evaluate a positive response from this resident based on evals and input from family, etc.

I would use a lot of sensory activities, I would also use music with ear phone for the vibration of the sounds, hand massages, the touch of sand, rocks, ice .

I would massage or put lotion on their hands and you can also let them hold a battery operated toys. You can also bring a pet i.e dog, cat and have the residents pet them.

Hello, my name is Trisha. For a resident that is deaf mute and blind, use an assortment of scented candles, or coffee grounds or scented lotions. You can also stimulate a resident with different tastes of dum-dum lollipops. You could also stimulate a resident with hand massage.
