Guest JB Report Share Posted July 3, 2004 Hello, all! I found out about this site through google.com. I see that most (if not all) of the users for this site are on the East Coast, but I've never seen a site such as this one, and I've been trying very hard to find out about the certification process. If anyone would like to help me out with this, I'd be very grateful. I live on the West Coast and I'm very much interested in becoming a certified Activity Director for a senior citizen facility. I have a background in music and hospital visitations...so what better profession to get into!? Any comments, anyone? Thanks much!
Guest TThorland Report Share Posted July 3, 2004 If you are aware of the tracks for becoming certified, you have to take the MEPAP 1 (Basic) course to get your Activity Director certification. It sounds with your background you would meet criteria for one of the tracks with only needing the MEPAP 1. You would have to confirm this by going to www.nccap.org and checking out the requirements with what you have. I teach the MEPAP 1 as an Independent/Home study course that is NCCAP approved. If you are interested you can email me at: dtntt@wctatel.net Good luck and yes it is a great profession to be in!!

Miguel 4 Report Share Posted July 6, 2004 Also California only requires 36 hours of Course work for the Activity Profession. It is recommended that you take that course work and while you work strive to complete the ADC certification thru NCCAP. Depending where you live Norhtern or Southern California I can get you the informaiton.
