RebeccaM 0 Report Share Posted April 12, 2005 This sounds like it could be a really great idea for lots of us! I'm afraid I don't have any suggestions to add right now, but I'll be interested to see how it unfolds.
Kate 0 Report Share Posted April 12, 2005 8-) Wow, great idea! Try to fill a big pan full of cooked spaghetti noodles, or colored water and place a ton of bouncy balls inside and give the contestants a time of 30 seconds and whoever gets the most wins. And for a food idea, use a numbered board on the floor and have them throw a rock to determine which hidden food they are going to have to eat. If they hit number 3, pull the lid off plate number three and show a cup of peanut butter. Give a certain amount of time they have to eat it in. Other food could be, pudding, pickle juice, mashed bananas, and mashed carrots. Sounds fun! Good Luck! StacieO 0 Report Share Posted April 12, 2005 Sounds like fun, I like Kate's suggestions. I was going the direction of bugs, worms, etc. You could get from candy shops the gummy bears, worms, etc. They have sour ones, too. Have fun.
Stacy 0 Report Share Posted April 12, 2005 I was thinking the same as StacieO. Make a dirt pie with pudding oreos and gummy worms sticking out of it. Great idea. Share with us your final plans when you are done. I would love to hear all the different activities that are done. Stacy
pickles4you2 0 Author Report Share Posted April 14, 2005 Thank you guys those were wonderful suggestions. Trust me I will be using some of them. I have got a lot of great feed back I am also doing extreme makeover, Bryn Mawr Idol (name of my facility) I also need help with SUrvivor game....I was thinking with the different tribes have puzzle pieaces in a bag and give clues how to find the bag...then when the tribe find the bag of puzzle pieces they will need to put the puzzle together first to win a fantastic prize....My mind is so overwelmed with this project that is why I am soliciting so much help....again Thank you and I will post the outcome..... heavenstar 0 Report Share Posted April 18, 2005 We did a survivor game and it turned out great! We started at lunch by having everyone fish for their team---- paper fish with paperclips, and the fishing pole had a magnet on the end. They got the team bandana --we had 4 teams of 5 people. They had to eat lunch with their teammates. Afterwards, they moved to the community room and the first game was putting together a puzzle-- 24 pieces-- a lot harder when you have 5 people working on it and getting in the way. Second game was walking a line with a spoon full of water --relay style Another game that was a lot of fun was using rubber bands and shooting them at soda cans--- each different type of can was for a different team. The last can standing was the winner. We did a scavenger hunt-- and the end was a bag of food that they had to eat. They brought the food back to the table. Then they all opened it up. We made cottage cheese that was dyed green. Sardines, pickled pigs feet, and something that was good..... everyone picked what they wanted, but if someone didn't eat, then they lost points for their team. Another idea is for the bertie botts every flavor bean--- from harry potter...... find at speciality candy stores, and when they say every flavor they mean it--- the vomit flavored one tastes like chili vomit..... hate to be the taste tester for that company! It took about an hour for all the games. And the winner kept the immunity doll -( a hawaiian luau doll made out of coconuts from party city)-we put it on display with a sign. Use special or senior olympics stuff as game ideas Do a Jerry Springer show, american idol with grandkids, The contender--- with the boxing toys, Casino "texas hold'em tournament" with the computer-- who can get the most points in 5 minutes or something....... The price is right, i am getting off track. Hope everything works out great!
Guest Guest_Betty Report Share Posted December 18, 2006 Hey guys, I was watching "Survivor" last night, one of my favorites! I was wondering if anyone plays a adapted game of "Survivor" at their facility? If so please give me a hint on how you do this!!!! Thanks Betty
Guest Guest_Susie Report Share Posted December 28, 2006 We have never done survivor but we did do a week of Fear Factor and everyone loved it. We had a new challenge each day - each department represented a team and had to have one resident paticipate with one staff from that dept each day. Everyday one team was eliminated then the showdown between the last two teams took place on the final day. Day one was a scavenger hunt - team with least at the end was eliminated. Day two we made large bowls of choc pudding and put gummy worms in with it at the same time each team (staff) had to put their face in the bowl of pudding (we called it mud) and using only their mouth pull out as many worms as possible 1 by 1 with in a 1 min time frame - their resident wore gloves and took the worm from the staff and placed it on a plate the team with the least was eliminated - this went on all week with different challenges until the final day with 2 teams left we filled 2 large bowls with sand and mixed puzzle pcs from a 50 pc puzzle in with the sand the object was for the resident to find the pieces in the sand while their teamate assembled the puzzle first team finished was our FREA FACTOR WINNER! We then celebrated with a Dairy Queen Ice Cream Cake. This was so much fun - it brought staff and residents together - the laughter & memories were more than you can imagine (We took so many pictures)! They have been requesting this again so I have been planning one useing a few challenges like staff wheel chair race & such!
