Guest Tinki Report Share Posted May 6, 2006 Please vote for your favorite: 1st place winner will receive a Activity Director bag and Trivia Book 2nd place winner will receive a AD mouse pad and Trivia Book 3rd place winner will receive a Trivia Book 1. Soup Sale During the winter I have a "soup sale" its really nice because what I do is schedule a party where we serve hot soup on a Friday afternoon. My dietary manager makes the soup for the party and then makes extra for me to sell at lunch time to staff. That way all of the residents get some and the staff gets a nice hot bowl of soup for lunch on a cold day. I make all of the profit because the kitchen provides everything. 2. In honor This fundraiser is done every week during National Nursing Home Week. We do an honorarium/memorial wall in the main part of our nursing home. We pick a clip art item that matches the theme of our week. For example our cruise week we used fish, movie week we used popcorn, this year as we travel it is hot air balloons. The clip art is made big enough to write on. We sell these 2 for 25 cents and sell hundreds. It ends up being a wall full of memories. We buy them to honor current employees and past residents of our facility. It simply says " In honor of...." and "In memory of....... 3. Lollipop Make homemade suckers or lollipops made by your residents to sell at a community event like (sporting events, fairs, etc). Get a recipe and have the residents make a bunch and find places to sell them once a month. You can sell them for $.75 and make a profit. hcornell 0 Report Share Posted May 7, 2006 I voted for the lollipops for several reasons: 1. It is done by the residents themselves, how much better can you get than to encourage the residents to utilize their abilities to run their own fundraisors 2. It is significantly low cost- compared to many other's in terms of supplies, and staff time, and effort 3. It can be repeated over and over again with each season and not get "overdone" or old. (Who would ever say "chocolate is overdone)? and finally 4> It does not take up space, or require special equipment. It can be done at a small table, and it can be sold without freaking out the decorator that you taped up the wallpaper. Though all three were lovely choices. herbiedog 0 Report Share Posted May 15, 2006 I vote for SOUP!!!!! I like the idea of including other departments. I used to have Baked Potato sales in a facility I worked in. I also had the advantage of working with the Dietary Dept. I had a resident at the "cash register" and a "town crier" who reminded staff of the upcoming sale. I foubnd it was a huge hit for residants and staff and our Resident Council Fund reaped the benefits!!
monarch 0 Report Share Posted May 15, 2006 I vote for honoring staff and residents both deceased and allive. Most people would participate in doing something like this. They will feel like they are paying tribute to someone they loved and also if gives the person who is paying tribute a sense of gratification. Great ideal! Jen 0 Report Share Posted May 17, 2006 I voted for the lollipops. I've done soup, but since all food, except for rare occasions comes from my budget, We were spending almost as much as we made. I was wondering if you make the hard candy type or chocolate-mold type & how they cost out for you.
