Hello everyone, I love this website so much I was on it for 12 hours today!! So much to learn from all of you.Thank you so much. We are having a party Oct.30th, night before Halloween. Amoung guests will be the residents,families, staff and families. I can't wait. We are going to have hot dogs,chips, pickles and Green Slime Drink with floating eye balls. (Hawaian Punch) While everyone is walking around there will be the Wii Game,Pin the face on the pumpkin,Coloring Corner, Tatoo Table, Basketball Toss, Cookie decorating,Guess the candy corns, Doughnut eating contest (string doughnuts on a rope and have the guests try and bite them with no hands,) Candy&Carmel Apples and Treat Bags. We will finish up with a costume parade up and down the hallways (for bed bound residents.) Oh, and lots and lots of balloons. Have a fun and safe Halloween. Marti

Staff/Volunteer-Motivation :: Group Angel's Helpers Description : -The goal of this program is to promote socialization between staff and residents. Instructions : • Require each staff member to adopt a resident to spend extra one-on-one time with each week. • The Angel�s Helpers will be given a few residents to help meet their special needs, visiting, or playing games. • There are many residents whom do not have reliable family members and this program will help to compensate for the lack of attention each resident receives weekly. • For the staff it will entice further interaction with residents and give them an increase of self-worth. I have to share this story with all of you, just because we work so hard at our job and a reward is great. Yesterday, Oct. 18th, I took 5 of my residents and my assistant to a restuarant a couple of towns away from ours. (all ladies) We were chatting and laughing and sharing stories when a gentleman approached our table, " asking who was in charge of the group?" I thought for a minute that he was going to tell us we where to loud, so I replied,"that I was in charge," This man proceeded to reach into his pocket and he pulled out a 50.00 dollar bill and stated,"put this toward your lunch tap," "My Mother is also in a nursing home and I think this is great!" We all thanked the kind man that never stated his name and before he left he came back to our table and shared his story with us. His mom was in a nursing home, he was friends with the owner, who has pasted on and he has been going there for 25 years to get his mom chicken soup that the owner kindly makes for her lunch and he goes to feed her. Telling his story he had tears in his eyes, you know what happens then, We get tears in our eyes. (THIS STORY IS GETTING TO LONG) (POINT) Kindness is still out there. I took the 50 and applied 10 dollars to each residents bill. That made them so happy. Still don't know gentleman's name but we are going to send a letter to the editor in our Daily News Paper. I want to say hello, my name is Marti and I work in a Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. I read this forum often and have to say it's great to hear other's say what you feel and really understand what you mean. I have gotten great ideas from you all and I hope I can return the favor.
