  1. Hi Everyone, I am wondering if anyone could share their process/policy on a "Happy Hour" activity? My residents have been asking for an activity like this and they are wondering if we will be able to actually serve alcohol. I have heard of facilities doing this but I am unsure of the proper policies and procedures. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
  2. Hey everyone! We participated in this tournament too and it was a blast! We signed up for the free trial that they had, but unfortunately it is too expensive for us to do it again. I am thinking of contacting the nursing facilities throughout our area to see if they would like to put a tournament together in our area. I will let you know how it works out! Hi everyone, I am wondering if some of you could shed some light on the new survey tag process that will soon be used in Michigan and how it will affect the number of cites a facility will receive. My administrator just returned from the annual joint provider/surveyor training and he learned about this process there. In a nutshell, he says that the surveyors will no longer be decidng our tags, that they will be computer generated. Meaning the surveyors will just be entering in the information that they discovered and the computer will be assingning the tags, levels and severity. He also said that many other states already do it this way. Can any of you whose state currently use this process tell me more about it? I am very concerned that the number of tags will dramatically increase because there will be no "talking yourw out of it" anymore. How many facilities have been put into immediate jeopardy because of this? Maybe I am just overy worried but it doesn't hurt to hear others experiences. Thanks for your help!
  4. Sounds to me like you have your hands full! Are you still taking this gentleman out of the building for rides daily? I would be afraid that is only making the situation worse. He knows he will get to go out if he acts up enough. What about giving him a daily job to do? IE: passing the mail, hosting the dining room, passing water, small maintenance tasks, takingcare of animals etc.... If he is given a daily task maybe he will feel he is needed and want to stay. What made him so well known in your town, try capitalizing on that. As far as him sleeping throughout the morning, is this his pat lifestyle? If so then your DON shouldn't try and change it, you should accomodate it. Even if that means your midnight shift providing activity. How old is this resident? Hope some of my ideas help.

  7. I am wondering if anyone knows of a regulation that requires nursing staff/CNA's to attend outings. My administrator has recently informed me that he attended a conference where this was said to be a regulation. As a CTRS, I sit on both sides of the fence with this issue. On one hand I am glad that it is required as I am then given more help during an outing. On the other hand, my DON is telling me that all of my outings must have a certain number of residents attending before I can take any of her staff, therefore eliminating some of my smaller outings. How many of you are required to take nursing staff with you? My staff are not certified nursing assistants. Just wondering. Thanks, Nikki
