  1. Hi Alan I also work at a snf, 125 bed unit. We do our lower functioning activities in the am we have done some painting that was fun, you can use cotton balls, toothbrushes, put gloves on the residents and let them finger paint. We also did quilt wall hangings, very easy. Napkin rings, wall collages, all about me books, there are several that are fairly easy for lower functioning residents. Email me and I will help out anyway I can. Fathers Day is our Car Show, we have music, pop corn, snow cones, and hot dogs. My email is tcook@spanish-meadows.com Hope that helps. Theresa
  2. I have a booklet that we got at conf. in Jan. on the I care plans, email me and and I can mail you a copy if you would like. There is a facility in San Antonio that is already using them. They are real interesting. My email is tcook@spanish-meadows.com Hope this helps, Theresa
  3. Here at our facility, we have the usual welcome sign, kit, etc. We have added a Welcome Wagon of sorts. It is a group of 4 ladies that are here long term and they go in and welcome the new resident. Tell them a little bit about the facility, some of the activities that we have etc. Before the resident even gets here there is a calendar in room on the bullentin board. Every Friday afternoon we have a New Resident Social. This is where we get the new residents together with our older ones. We are LTC and ReHab so we have one wing that is forever changing due to rehab. At this social my dept. heads come down and tell what they do, give their names, etc. So when they see their names written on the welcome sign on the door they can put a face to the name. At the social we have drinks, snacks, music, etc. The residents love it old and new alike. -Theresa
