I know that Direct Supply has several "paintings" for the rights with Rockwell pictures. If you like, make your own! I did with my residents in "cheesy" 50's style advertisements (sorry art school) and they are popular.

I don't think there would be any. It is a good classic.....

If you truly have a resident who is fully B,D, M...you need to have alternative activities that are basically advanced sensory stim. If you have that then you would care plan as if it was a specialized one on one with other residents. Also, you will need a log that records any visits from family and friends. I would also contact all service organizations that deal specifically with the impediments that you have.
Also, consider pet therapy with this resident and evaluate a positive response from this resident based on evals and input from family, etc.
Lemme know if this helps. I can get more specific with more information.

Hey,
The best way to get folks to help with activities is to find a common thread amongst your residents and thier families. I have Lions Club, VFW and some churches. Don't be afraid to ask and make sure that you thank them!!! Send letters out and ask. Most people will help when asked. Also, be observant with your visitors. For example, I found out that one of my family members made gift baskets for a charity, I asked her to make some and she became excited saying " wow, I do this so much for other people, I didn't know that I could help you too!"
Ask, let me know if I can help.

Sonia,
My first piece of advise would be to stay on this site.
Then, find someone who has been in Texas (Pennie I am talking to you) to help you with the state regs. This job is a learning process, find others who have been in the biz and learn from them. Then modify your skills to the way that you like to do things.
Hope this helps.

Good job Trix!!!
Here in Atlanta, we aren't having that kind of luck. All facilities are getting tags, they tried to get me for voting but I walked them through the process and cleared. THe first GA no deficiency was in October in one of my facilities. That was the ONLY ONE!!!!

We have a regular PC at the facility, but I conduct my computer classes with a projector and my Gateway. It has a ton of files on it and it is 6 years old. Many who see it are amazed, so I would stand by it.

The best answer to get in touch with NCCAP. I have been going on with them for years and they usually answer your questions. SOme of your work may still count and if you have had any CEU's since they may count as well.
Let us know how it goes.

When I check my e mail, one of the big questions is "Why do we write care plans?". For those of us who have written a ton of them, it may be obvious. But to those who may be new, I can give a few hints and tips. As always, I welcome feedback.
The care plan is a tool to not only emphasize, but to take credit for and to protect yourself when it comes to activities. For instance, last year, I wrote about a residents family who was very insisitent on her mother going to every activity offered, even though her mother had issues with participation and STM. I careplanned this, extensively; giving examples of behaviors and even dates of conversations with the daughter. After the surveyor came to me and asked questions, I got out of a tag, because the daughter spent a large amount of time with the state.
Also, it gives the author a chance to address the P/G/A of each resident, both in a positive and not so positive way. Basically, it is an illustration for anyone reading to understand how activities and activity issues are identified, addressed and the issues that may arise.

Trixie,
It sounds as if you need the doc to add some anti depressants to her med load. If you like, you can do several different types of activities that will take her mind off of what seems to be depression. Sensory tim and 1/1 visits are a good start, but it would take a good effort to get her active. I can get you more info if you tell me a little more.
THanks,

We have fundraisers all of the time to prepare for the holidays- Our stuff runs the gambit from very basic, like a bake sale or an angel tree. To a little more complex, we have a photo printer so we make family portraits twice a year for the families and we sell them in packages.

I want to thank Turtle for that response. I learned an additional lesson today when I tried to solve an issue. In my mind I just wanted to fix a problem and I did not think about the politics of business. This is a very important issue that I will talk about later, but I want to relate a short story.
As I was trying to fix an issue, I skipped over the DON on the chain of command. Of course it wasn't intentional, I actually like our DON, she us a gem. But I made a mistake and instructed the maintenance guy to order a part. I messed up, so I wanted to let you know there is an actual lesson here.
As I learn, I would like to help others- so remember to respect the chain of command. Good intentions or not, call others in and respect the chain of command.

I wanted to talk about something that was on the open discussion forum....
As we all know, we want to avoid being untruthful about waht we do in all of our documentation. In care planning, please remember this....
If you have an unresponsive resident in a geri chair, do not CP that you will encourage activity participation as tolerated. It does not happen, so don't say it.
If you have a highly active resident who has dementia issues and wanders. Don't say that they are on a walking program with activities.
What I am trying to say is this.... surveyors will talk to these people, they will look at you. If you tell Ms. Smithin the gerichair to come to Bingo and she does not respond. You get a tag...
Also, on back dating, do NOT do it. Make the mistake and own up to it. We ALL get behind and do not document on time. State would rather see a note 2 weeks/months off. Than something that is made up.
I wanted to say this, sorry if I upset some. Any comments??
