Activity Ideas

Hello everyone. I work for a memory care unit and we like to try different things but we keep some of the same activities every month. We would like some different ideas about activities that have been successful or not so successful. I just like to try new things. Thanks for any and all replies.

In our Special Care unit, we have a "dance party" once a month. We select music form a different era and see if the residents recognize it. We then do chair dancing or regular dancing to the music. We also have a "Magazine Scavenger Hunt" we take old magazines and have the residents find items in the magazine. They rip them right out once found. At the end, everyone gets ice cream to thank them for participating. We use the ripped out pages as identification books. We have "memory identification books" all over the place. We use small photo albums from the dollar store and put the pictures in them as a theme. Kitchen items or pies or shoes, etc. We can use these 1:1 with residents for memory prompters or just to look at.

Hope this helps

BTW- Go SABRES!!!
