LAPLANTE369 0 Report Share Posted April 9, 2011 Hey Fellow ADs!!!!! My name is Lisa LaPlante. I've succesfully completed the MEPAP 1 and 2 through Activity Directors Network and am scheduled to take my certification test in August. The current AD at my facility is retiring in two weeks and I will be filling the position!!! Currently I am the Medical Records Manager and Central Supply. The Administrator put me on there to get my feet in the door. I'm gonna need all your help in the new upcoming AD position, however. What are all doing for Easter?? Hope to chat with you all soon!! Lisa LaPlante Hi, I guess I should first say good luck in your test in August and I hope you do well. I am new to this site and come from Essex in England. I am an activities organiser in a care home in Essex Have you ever heard of laughter therapy. I have used this on several occasions very successfully and if possible would urge anyone to use the therapy. There are many qualified therapists around and I understand that the therapy is big in the States.I would happily tell you more info if you anyone else wished. Once again hi and good luck. Kind regards and best wishes Derek

essexboy1 0 Report Share Posted April 11, 2011 Hi again, I am sorry but in my haste top reply to you I forgot to answer your question re Easter. I have organised the residents in making their own bonnets and obviously we have Easter eggs for them all plus we have the local church attending for a service. We have the Royal Wedding at the end of this month and we are busy organising bunting and flags etc. I thought it would be nice for the residents to recall their own weddings , if applicable of course. We are also organising an in house street party. Derek Fisher

Lisa LaPlante Hi Lisa, get a big jar and fill it with jellybeans...(you can put something as a filler in the center of the jar, so you don't have to spend too much money on the jellybeans) have each resident guess how many jellybeans are in the jar and record their names with their answers on cute little jellybean shaped cards you can make yourself...whoever is the closest without going over...wins the jar (as long as they aren't diabetic) Don't forget to count all the jellybeans first. Have an easter egg toss with those plastic hollow eggs...have several colorful boxes or containers numbered with points placed at certain distances....each resident gets 3 eggs and 3 chances to score the highest points ( if there is a tie, they have to have a duel to see who gets the most points) They can win a chocolate bunny ( as long as they are not diabetic!) Since you are just starting you may need an icebreaker, send me your e mail address or fax # and I will send you some free sample pages from Memorystreets to try with your seniors...question and answers designed for seniors and they love them...you will too.
