aRBeRec 0 Report Share Posted February 22, 2010 I'm sure most of you have worked with a traveling clothing store or two... I have approached by a new vendor that is offering to do our mailing to families... but it seems like that would be a violation of HIPPA since we would have to give them all the families names and addresses. Anyone have any experience with this??
LisaRee 0 Report Share Posted February 23, 2010 I'm not sure what a traveling clothing store is, but if I were you I'd give the families the vendors number. How about that?
aRBeRec 0 Author Report Share Posted February 24, 2010 Its a company that comes and bring clothes to the facility so residents and their familes can shop with out leaving the building. We do a mailing to let families know and let them decide it they want to allow resident to shop independently or not, let's us know how much they would like to spend, etc.

Anyone have any experience with this?? I absolutely think that would violate HIPPA... and open a huge can of worms for you! I would just let the clothing store know that you will be doing the mailing as traditionally has been done at your facility. I am actually looking for a traveling clothing store for my facility... could you pass along contact information please?

aRBeRec 0 Author Report Share Posted March 2, 2010 Most definately would violate HIPPA but I am also intereseted in a traveling clothing storeRoberta B There are two I've used: Wardbrobe Wagon: www.wardrobewagon.com/ and American Healthcare Apparell: http://www.clothesforseniors.com/ Both travel, but I'm not sure how far, I'm in NJ. I know one goes down south and one goes out west but not sure how much land they cover.
penkay 1 Report Share Posted March 3, 2010 I would tell the clothing store that you place the info in your monthly newsletter. Telling the families & residents about their services & when they will be visiting the facility. Make an activity around it or at least count the residents that attend this & be sure to chart it. Yes it is counted as an activity, but no families would respond to the newsletter, especially since only a select few visit reqularly, we need approval from most of them to allow the residents to purchse the items they need, and to pay. We've always send out mailings before we'll just continue to do so. It would be nice if the vendor could do it but I thought it would go against HIPPA practices. Thanks all for your input
