  1. I absolutely think that would violate HIPPA... and open a huge can of worms for you! I would just let the clothing store know that you will be doing the mailing as traditionally has been done at your facility. I am actually looking for a traveling clothing store for my facility... could you pass along contact information please?
  2. Welcome to the "insanity" that is our world! It takes a special kind of personality to be a great Activity Director, and I wish you a great program! Victoria
  3. Hi all! I just found this website this evening, and how awesome to be able to connect with my peers in this way! A little about myself, I have worked in Activities for approximately 16 years, and after taking a break for a few years, I am back into it. I guess I just can't stay away. I am married to the most amazing man and between us we claim five kids, but are almost empty nesters... WOO HOO! There is light at the end of the tunnel! Anyway, on to my question... Does anyone know where I can attend live classes for AD certification in the DFW area of Texas? I was grandfathered in previously in NY when the certification requirement was made, and so never took the class. Now we have relocated to TX, and in accepted a position, I must take the cert. class. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to sharing ideas with all of you! Happily, Victoria
  4. I used to have one of her. It is not easy in any way. However, I would have her help me deliver monthly activity calendars, if you have a bread machine, you could make her in charge of making fresh bread for lunch daily (one loaf a day for all residents to share) put her in charge of taking the book cart around to resident rooms for library selection. Also, find out if she used to knit or crochet. If so, then take a skein of yarn and tangle it. You could then tell her that someone got into your yarn box and messed it up... ask her if she would take some time to help you out by untangling and rolling the ball. The more responsibility you give her, the happier she should be. Hope some of those ideas help! Good luck.
