KateAA 0 Report Share Posted July 2, 2009 Yes, I order my stuff bolk from Dollartree.com I can get bulk supplies at $1.00 each and then have them delivered to my Dollar Tree store for free shipping. If you have it delivered to your facility you will need to pay shipping...it has saved an incredible amount of time.
jeffreykirchofer 0 Report Share Posted July 15, 2009 (edited) I have found it greatly rewarding to the resident Bingo players by awarding tickets to the winners, then at the end of each week I open the "General Store" (I constructed) in which I stocked figurines, jewelry, snacks and other knick knack that were donated by the local thrift stores, dollar stores and other establishment. Not only do they get to play Bingo, but when they win they get to go shopping. The best of both worlds and all the residents (AL & Alzheimer/Dementia care) love it. Jeffrey, were were thinking of doing the same thing. Assisted living is going through about 30 dollars worth of candy each week and we can't afford it any longer. I was curious as to the tickets you give out...are they like raffle tickets or did your facility make up it's own currency? We were considering give the residents a "buck" each time the come to an activity or if they are seen out and about doing their own activity. My AD is concerned however that it would be a bribe and that we could/might get dinged by the state when they do survey...what do you think?? JoanneA1 0 Report Share Posted August 9, 2009 Hi Everyone, I also purchase prizes from the 99cent store. Things like powder, tissues, lotions, socks etc. The I offer the residents a choice to get something from the basket of goodies or a candy bar. They love to sort thru and see what kind of items I bought that week.
