aRBeRec 0 Report Share Posted June 23, 2009 In our most recent pain management meeting we brought up doing some sort of relaxation/meditation group for those whom we tried every other intervention. Does anyone know of a CD or DVD we can play that talks you through a relaxation session?? I've been to inservices where someone has us all close our eyes focus on a happy place... yadda yadda... i'm looking for that pre-recorded or some sort of script we can try out, any ideas?? aRBeRec 0 Author Report Share Posted June 24, 2009 How about something where someone speaks through the music... "imagine your pain... " etc.
heavenstar 0 Report Share Posted June 24, 2009 you can google free guided meditation and it will come up with some... I didn't find anything dealing with pain management. Try also to call a holistic health center in your area or even a psychologist. Also, you can try calling a training center--- people who will come to your company and host training sessions. I have done this before and they have done stress sessions for us-- where they guided us through. This is a video of meditation and a free website for many different free meditation videos http://anmolmehta.com/blog/2007/12/29/aum-...ird-eye-chakra/ I know what type of guided meditation you are talking about and I don't think this is it, but it is a starting point. aza9 0 Report Share Posted August 9, 2009 After nine years of working in the hospice field, I have seen first hand the benefits of meditation relexation for pain managment of terminal patients. At our facility we implemented an 11th hour program focused on providing quality activities for dying residents. The program consisits primarly of meditation and relaxation techniques that provide some level of pain relief. Of course a big component of this playing music. It doesn't matter what you play, but it should be something soft with low soft tones, and played at medium volume in resident rooms. Another way to approach this is just talking to the patient as a relexation technique ans sometimes just saying nothing at all, just being in the room is all the relexation people need. Just my experiences, hope it helps.
harrispatrice 0 Report Share Posted August 11, 2009 For pain management music helps period....no matter the type; as long as it is soothing and relaxing it will all work the same. In my experiences I have used the relaxation/peaceful sounds that you will hear in a spa or if the jazz music. Talk with the family/responsible party and they will give you clues as to whats best for their loved one. Patrice
yunakitty 2 Report Share Posted August 12, 2009 (edited) Ah, I know just the thing. It's a DVD by Yoga Zone. http://www.amazon.com/Yoga-Zone-Meditation...843&sr=8-24 There are two sessions. The music and narration is really good. http://www.amazon.com/Yoga-Zone-Conditioni...8828&sr=8-4 Also, this DVD is an active yoga one, but the last 10 minutes is meditation and relaxation and it's so good. I used to do it every night before bed (and I probably should start again!) He talks about imagining someone pouring warm oil over your head and shoulders...and his voice is so relaxing...zzzz.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qeLr6y6pTM I found a clip of it on YouTube.
