moniquita 0 Report Share Posted May 12, 2009 This Mother's Day, we had a Mother's Day Tea and from the feedback we got, it was a hit! We had our Dietary Department furnish the cookies, brownies, hot tea and coffee. Using real china, of course, and all we had to do was set up tables with nice linens and pink rose petals! They just loved it and I'm still hearing about it!

It's amazing what a difference a tablecloth and vase of flowers will do! I need to get my own tea set though. We always just use coffee cups from the dining department, but I think tea cups would make it fancier. I had a tea party on Easter that was really successful as well. Tea parties never fail, it seems!

Tea parties never fail, it seems! We've had a "ladies tea" for years (we call it ladies tea, because some ladies were never mothers), always with a different theme. This year was "All Dolled Up" in which we took many era's of dolls and used them as centerpieces. We've done 'black and white' and decorated and wore only black and white, "pretty in pink" , "Aprons", " Hats", "Flowers", "Victorian","Purses", (whatever the theme, we decorate and dress to that theme, I even try to get the invites to match). We pass out door prizes to residents and their family that may attend. Its always a lot of work, but fun.
