What is the difference between doing MDS and Admissions? pls help Welcome to long term care, jeenmarcia. Admissions is usually referred to as an Admission Director or Coordinator in the facilities I have worked. It is marketing-getting residents in and all the paperwork for admission. An MDS Coordinator actually does the Minimum Data Set & transmitting it and often inputting most or all of the Care Plans. The MDS must be signed by an RN, so thiis person is usuallyan RN, but I have seen an LPN do it with an RN signing off on it. Hope this is helpful. werneket 0 Report Share Posted January 5, 2009 Working in LTC is great and yes there will be much to learn. If you are the AD at your facility you will learn how to do MDS for Act. but if you are not ask the AD to show you how they are done. I am sure they would not mind. I have work from answering the phones to admissions to AD its lots of fun and a liitle crazy. Wish you the best.
