Go buy you one of those inexpensive blank tapes , the ones that last like an hour or two before they run out. Pick a night that you know is not going to be any rain. Get a recorder and put it outside. I actually put it in the woods and you wouldn't beleive the sounds I got off this tape , from crickets chirping to some sort of Owl or bird making a very strange noise. Not only was it cool but it was fun too !!!! Try it and let us know what happens , oh and turn the volume up high on the recorder ;o) BartMan in Tally

Tamera 0 Report Share Posted August 18, 2008 I downloaded LIMEWIRE basic, on my computer, which is free. I search soundtracks and nature sounds in the audio search engine and the results are plentiful. This is the cheapest way that has been working for me. I am able to download as much music as I like; oldies, gospel, jazz, instrumentals, etc. and then make my own cds. This is just a little advice that has worked and still is working for me. blessed1 0 Author Report Share Posted August 21, 2008 I had thought of that too of course, but i need them on cd. clearer sound, no hiss. And even when I lived in the boonies, not 5 minutes would go by when I didn't hear a vehicle go by even late at night, so it just didn't seem a feasible way to go about it. Thank you for letting me know it is possible though. I appreciate your reply Beth
blessed1 0 Author Report Share Posted August 21, 2008 I had to laugh at the thought of Alzheimers residents seeing a visual of a bright sunny day and hearing rain, but that's actually typical weather for our region. Sounds like a great tool. I might look into that one. Thank you for your response. Beth
gloryforixseal 0 Report Share Posted June 15, 2009 I think this experiment sounds like something the myth busters would come up with that show is just bad science ... but thats another topic entirely. It ignores too many variables for us to come to any conclusions based on the result. My opinion, both nature and nurture play a critical role in who we become, furthermore, everyone has a breaking point.
Sue 0 Report Share Posted June 15, 2009 You can always check with the local library. Most library systems (at least here in PA) allow you to request items from the county's system and pick them up at your local branch. If you are able to burn a CD, then you could have a permanent copy -- not that I said that for legal reasons. I'm able to get just about any type of music I need for theme parties and everyday from my library.
