Certification To Be Consultant

Recommended Posts

Just wondering how to go about being certified to be an Activity Consultant?

How does being a consultant work, as far as within companies? Do companies hire you as a consultant over several facilities and yet have you working as a director in another?

All information appreciated!

Go to www.nccap.org and check out levels of certification. There you will find the tracks to become Activity Consultant, Certified (ACC) through their organization. Good luck.

If has also been my experience that if you have your own consulting business, then you will get hired by numerous facilities. I suppose it depends upon how you market yourself and what your goals are.

I have a question for ACC credentials. I did go to NCCAP, but it didn't answer my question. Can someone become ACC without being a CTRS, LCSW, or OT? If you can, I was wondering how? I have an activity director who keeps saying that they can become ACC, but I don't understand how.

Thanks

Stacy

Hey Adele,

I'm a TRS/CTRS. I received my BS degree, but I had one activity assistant that received a Therapeutic Recreation Assistant (TRA) diploma at a community college. However, at this point, I'm almost sure that the only way to become a CTRS is to have a BS degree. But if you would like more information on becoming a CTRS, here are some websites.
