smrldrobles 0 Report Share Posted September 5, 2006 Any ideas on how to care plan for a patient that is on Comfort Care. I know that you are not to use any interventions when they are on comfort care.
Mandyatscr 0 Report Share Posted September 7, 2006 When a resident is on comfort care we normally provide room visits with chicken soup stories/light stories. We also provide soothing music. If the resident is on comfort care but is still able to attend regular activities ( we have had some here like that) we offer the activity to them like any other resident. mizncg8r 0 Report Share Posted September 7, 2006 Hi all, we do the same thing. We do all the regular activities. Out of room, one on ones ect. Bring in pleasure foods and drinks. Nail care, hand maussages, scents, reading, tapes, mavies ect. Tracy
khancock 0 Report Share Posted September 13, 2006 In my opinion the offering of activities, even when they're on comfort measures, is very important to their overall social, physical and spiritual needs. This, to me, is what we're all about, and what we're here for. This is the time for personal one-to-one visits, offering a gentle touch, light massage, soft/relaxing music, and just a comforting voice could do wonders. If they're able, they do come to specific groups, but if they're not able than I provide the above services, and make sure my progress notes reflect what they're being offered and how they may have reacted. Guest Guest_Pennie Report Share Posted September 14, 2006 Hi, Be sure that you go to the topic "care plans & the MDS" in the same area that you posted this question. I just put up a link for the CMS Guidelines. You can download it. It has information on what they will be looking for on res. who are bedbound, comatose, unable to leave room, non-responsive etc. It should help you out.
