Pennie 26 Report Share Posted June 21, 2006 A REMINDER....18 days from today, all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sale calls. YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS.... To prevent this, ,call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222. It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS If anyone knows the website to contact.. please post it.. thanks, Pennie :-)

Guest Guest Report Share Posted June 23, 2006 Don’t worry, sales calls to your cell still illegal JOHN GILLIE; The News Tribune Published: June 21st, 2006 01:00 AM An alarming but inaccurate report about cell phones and telemarketers is resurfacing on the Internet. That report claims that cell phone users have but a few days to place their cell phone numbers on the national “Do Not Call” list before the federal government releases a nationwide directory of cell phone numbers to telemarketers. It isn’t true. One version of the message says, “All cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sale calls. You will be charged for those calls.” The Federal Trade Commission says the report is untrue. “Telemarketing to cell phone numbers has always been illegal in most cases and will continue to be so,” the federal agency says on its Web site. The federal government doesn’t maintain a database of cell phone numbers, the FTC says, and federal rules prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phone numbers. Most phone marketers use auto-dialers to make their calls. Cell phone users continue to be able to add their cell phone numbers to the Do Not Call Registry, the same registry consumers use to register their land lines, either online at www.donotcall.gov or by calling 1-888-382-1222 toll-free from the telephone number they wish to register.
