Therapeutic Activity / Program Director Needed Full-Time , Marlborough, Massachusetts Hearthstone Alzheimer Care LTD Marlborough, Massachusetts, United States Job Description If you want to work in an environment where managers walk the walk and truly care about their staff, consider Hearthstone for employment! We currently have a full time Therapeutic Activities/Program Director position available at Hearthstone’s Assisted Living Residence located in Marlborough, MA. Program Directors at Hearthstone create a daily flow of life that includes personal care, recreational and social activities. They also create and lead focused and purpose-driven activities using the Montessori principles and assist residents to feel a sense of belonging in the community by providing opportunities to engage in meaningful social interactions. • Program Directors train and support all staff members in their recreational roles • Ensures there is consistent, ongoing, and vibrant programming is equal in quality and content with early through late stage residents • Develops an activity program addressing interests, needs, and abilities of all residents • Assess all residents individually and participates in the service planning process formulating appropriate leisure activities and goals • Trains, oversees, and assists Resident Companions in the facilitation of activities • Runs activity groups on a daily basis along with the Resident Companions to ensure multiple activities are running between the hours of 10:00 AM — 7:00 PM • Prepares and posts the weekly activity schedule for all programming levels • Recruits, trains, and organizes volunteers to supplement activity program • Actively involves families and the community in the activity program • Provides creative opportunities for appropriate interactions between residents and the community • Ensures the activity budget is within established parameters • Assemble activity materials and communicates to Management Team and Resident Companion staff the location of supplies • May have primary care responsibility for those participants requiring therapeutic interventions (OT/PT) to maximize function in all activities • Plans monthly family events as well as ensuring the residence environment reflects the appropriate seasonal décor • Ensures that opportunities are provided for all residents to regularly engage in cognitively stimulating activities • Arranges regular outings to cultural institutions such as museums, concerts, etc. • Thorough, engaging descriptions of monthly activities for the newsletter and website • Acts as Manager on Duty when working the weekend rotation • Is on call on a rotating basis with other managers • Qualifications: • We prefer that applicants have a degree in occupational, physical, art, or recreational therapy. • • Experience as an activity director or therapy aide may be substituted for a degree • One or more years of experience managing resident aide staff • USA work authorization • Able to work rotating weekends/evenings and take call 1X per month as part of a regular chedule • Preference will be given to those who have had specific experience with running activities for the Alzheimer’s population.
