I recently decided to designate every other Saturday afternoon to cooking or baking. This was began when I realized that many of my residents in the skilled nursing unit which I work were missing some of the foods they use to enjoy making, baking and eating. Now, the residents have dug up some of their "old favorite recipes" and they are taking turns selecting the recipes of choice. This activity is being met with such delight by residents and their families alike. It has stirred up a new level of conversation, anticipation and excitement throughtout the unit.

Thanks for the idea of using a coffee urn. I am planning a similiar event for later in the month and I was considering using a crock pot. This is a more appropriate idea. Thanks
