  1. I really like the comedy idea, tell some jokes and wear an outrageous costume while you're at it. I'm sure it'll be well received.
  2. Christy, sound like you have an assistant from hell. I would do as suggested and start documenting incidents you find problematic. V.
  3. Hi, Laurie. I'm new here, too. I received group facilitator training by the Alz. Assoc. at an all-day training event several months ago. I've yet to facilitate a family support group at my facility, but I do hope to implement it before year's end. V.
  4. Now, that's what I call a PARTAY! Looks like you all had such great fun, wonderful community effort, too!
  5. Just keep it simple. Hand massages, reading, pictures, walks, etc. I'm a memory impairment unit coordinator and the low functioning residents generally respond well to music. Be it a respite video, karaoke or sing-a-long -- it taps into early memories and it's as calming as it is joyful. The residents also seem to enjoy balloon volleyball and respond well to round circle kicking. I place alarge-sized ball in the center of the circle, then push or gently kick the ball, and the residents kick the ball back to the center. I also play lively music in the background lead a multi-sensory activity.
  6. That's a really cute activity. Has the balloon ever burst while swatting it? I do parachute circle and then do lower body exercise with a soft, giant ball. The residents are always so enthused when it's their turn to kick the ball. V.
