Activities Assistant Needed in Silver Spring, Maryland. Assisted Living Facility.

Thank You for voicing your concerns and frustrations. Ive only been in this field about 6 months and i have had some serious soul searching about if this is really what i have to put up with. I just want to let you know you are no the only one and by reading the advice given by others i totally agree. My situation is a little different the PA'S do the calendar and the Program Manager does the Calendar, we do create, modify, and attend care plan meetings. We have a coordinator and i just don't get her role right now. Since im new i don't want to cause ripples in the organizational plan of the facility but im a almost at my wits end. Thank God for the resident or i would have given up a while ago but they truly deserve better.

Merry Christmas to You as well. I think our Christmas programs are going well so far. Just a not thinking outside the box is sometimes amusing to the residents. Instead of wearing a normal Santa hat. I have red and white antlers with a bow, and a name tag that said Rudolpha . The amount of smiles and comments "like is your Christmas spirit contagious" makes it all worth it. Jonelle RG, PAII

To get certified will volunteer hours in a programming setting satisfy some of the hours needs for certification?

I work at a Long Term Facility in Maryland and their policy or norm is to have program but end early at about 2:30 - 3:00 pm so the programmers can go and spend time with their families. I mean to hear the facilities shut down is kind of sad because i think of how lonely my resident would be without activities that bring them together. I could say the only way i would be okay with no activity staff on a holiday is if the resident were all into their own self directed interests which is merely impossible. Jonelle

Resident activity level very independent to 1 to 1 visits only. Resident likes or dislikes. If the resident has participated in any off unit or off campus activites. At the end you should put if youre going to continue with the careplan created the prior year or if some modifications were made. Hope this helps.
