  1. Care Plans If you are expecting your annual state survey soon, start with the long term residents first. Make sure they are individualized. Start with those residents who have the most issues/impairments - dementia, bedbound/one-on-one, need for special programming, etc. Those who participate in group activities are easier to care plan.
  2. I have had to jump ahead of the MDS staff so they don't harrass me. They use to be so helpful when you have so many things to do, especially when it's Christmas time or Nursing Home Week. NOT ANYMORE! I would suggest that as soon as they open the MDS, you get your section of the MDS done first before any other work when possible, either before you leave the day or two before it's due or first thing in the morning. When its new admits get information when you do interview/assessment. Take one day at a time with everything else as long as you are making the residents happy, you steady your pace. Figure out what is the best time of day to do certain things and what's more important. There have been times when I went in to work on weekends when there were no meetings and other distractions to get myself organized.
