  1. I work in an Adult Day Center, with all levels of care for the participants. We exercise twice a day, in the morning we do a 20 minute improv stretch (which is good for me too) and sometimes use therabands. For the afternoon exercise we do a more active ball toss/balloon toss or seated horse shoes. The participants are getting bored. Any ideas on ways to switch it up? What do you do? We have tried tapes and videos-The participants will not follow, they need staff leading the way. Any ideas would help! Thanks

  4. I am currently working in an Adult Day Center and I find myself constantly reminding my staff that has been there for at least a year that it is time for a daily activity like exercise. I have to verbaly prompt them everytime! I was wondering how you work with your staff. The schedule I make is broken down into activities that usually last 30 minutes. They see the schedule but insist on waiting until I say "okay time for ballon ball" then I get it started and let them take over, but sometimes they just quit before the activity is suppose to be over. I think I just need new staff. My staff is only 4 including me. How can I get them motivated to enjoy their job a little more? I have asked them for ideas- like if they want to lead a particular act and they just say whatever you want us to do. Then I tell them and they don't want to do it. I need help! lydia jane
  5. I work in an adult day care as activity specialist. I am new to the job- so I dont know much about the state regs. We charge 45$ a day and the partici[pants are encouraged to come at least twice a week to establish a routine. Most of the participants are advanced alzehimers- we play games and do sing alongs. Although I am trying to make the unit more active by doing sensory activities and work on their motor skills. not sure if this helped... maybe some of it did.
