  1. Doreen Hi! I think we are in the same MEPAP class 040318.. I work full-time too but trying hard to get all these lessons done with you! I would like to chat with you as we get through our final weeks. I am from PA too, in the little town of DuBois and work in skilled at CKM. I am a CNA but work in activities and have done so for 8 years. Love my residents and find it to be very rewarding! So I see you had Memorial Picnic and as I recall the weather was perfect! I worked that weekend too and had my husband and daughter come to work with me and help put in our garden and flowers. Now it's almost officially summer....so glad for it. We are planning for a Kids Day in July. The staff are invited to sign their kids up for a whole day of fun devoted to them. It is a highly anticipated event here with a good turn out and tons to do since it lasts from 6AM until 4PM. We are planning ways to get our residents more involved with the kids this year..Maybe turning it into a parade and having the kids pass out laminated sunshines to our residents and having them personally invite the residents to our patio. What new things are you planning where you work? I missed our Father's Day Social because I was off but heard it went great. Will you be going right into MEPAP 2? I was told that I may have to wait awhile because we lost one of our activity aides. I finally found my rhythm so that's maybe a bummer for me.. Oh well.
  2. Finally had a chance to check out this network again and have been browsing through the topics. It looks like this is a great way to connect with everyone! I am in 12th week of MEPAP-1 and things are coming along. I am supposed to keep a journal of the internet sites that pertain to our profession and share them in the class forum so I admit that's one of the reasons why I am here looking over the topics. I work in skilled nursing so my main interests pertain to these residents activity needs. However, I noticed the information shared in other topics pertain to me as well so that helps overall. It seems with work and school and life in general right now, that I don't have a lot of free time to just read all this information. I have the feeling my other classmates are in the same boat right now! I do plan on trying to visit here and seeing what everyone is thinking about and hopefully participating in the conversations. I have to look at how to Bookmark on UTUBE to finish my assignment. I envy all the youngsters who grew up with the internet and seemed to have been born with the computer knowledge that I sadly lack! My stubbornness is getting me through though and each day I learn a little more. Look forward to checking out what the buzz is here!
  3. Recognize a few names from my MEPAP1 class making this seem a little more familiar! Hoping this site is easy to navigate for me since computers leave me struggling at times! Just last evening on a Chat I realized that I could use the Enter button to submit my comments when all along I had been scrolling over to the Arrow key! I should have been born later!! But I think that I am getting the job done with school and working like most of you! I am from PA and work in activities at a skilled nursing facility and have been for past 8 years. It has been rewarding and challenging at the same time. As I tend to find most things in life. Anyway, I would like to begin checking out this site but a co-worker just asked me to do a CAA before I am done for the day. I will be back and hope to share some good information with you all!

  5. Hi all! Roberta from PA using site here first time. I am a CNA turned activities aide for last 8 yrs. love what I do for and with my people every day! Taking MEPAP1 and feel like I’m getting there 5 weeks in. Trying to get my school work done is a challenge with work but it seems like we are all in the same boat! Looks like I need to find a chat buddy too so I will see how this goes! Going to bake this morning with my residents for a bake sale.
