My problem areas would be finding time for all the 1-1 visits that I want to do! And when I do interact with a resident on my 1-1 list, in the halls or at meals or something, half the time I do not get it documented. We also desperately need volunteers!

Our nursing staff seems to think that Activities is a "soft" or "do-nothing" department. We need to somehow educated other departments about the importance of activities.

Hi, everyone! My name is Kim, and I work as Activities Assistant at Golden Living Center in Omaha, Ne. I also love my job! I started out as a volunteer: I completed my CNA training in June of 2012, and I volunteered at Golden Living to get some kind of experience working with the LTC population. Three weeks later, I was hired! I have been working in Activities and picking up CNA hours as I could. I just recently decided that I wanted to pursue Activity Director certification, and that is why I am here. I love planning and implementing fun activities for our residents! I love interacting with residents and working to improve their quality of life. I look forward to meeting others on this board!
