At my facility, bingo is played three times a week. We have tried to change that. However, bingo is the program that attracts the most residents. There are a number of residents whom are unable to actually play. Staff will sit and help those in need but others just sit and observe.We have tried to come up with new and exciting programs but bingo appears to be a golden oldie that no one wants to part with !

My facility has just purchased a 50 inch television for the front lobby. The daily activities will be shown on that as well as other facility news. We also make a copy of the monthly activity schedule for each resident. It is laminated and put on the bedside tables and used as a place mat

A lottery tree raffle for staff works well for our facility. Hosting a progressive palette party brings in some money as well .

I think a book on activities for men would be a huge help. It is always hard for my department to find interesting men programs. Also, we are seeing younger residents. Any ideas for new and younger activities?

My name is Carrie. I have worked in a skilled nursing facility for the past nine years. The first two years, i worked as a lna and the last seven years as a activities assistant. For the past 4 months, I have been acting as the assistant activity director on the memory care unit. I am in week 13 of the MEPAP 1 course. When I complete course 1, I will be starting week 2 of the MEPAP course.How many others are planning to take the second part of this course?
